Police and Council teams carry out regular joint patrols in hotspot areas. We’re using a full range of legal and civil powers to tackle disorder, alongside joint family visits and Youth Justice support. The Local Authority continues targeted diversion and engagement at peak times.

Retail crime has fallen across Jarrow and Hebburn, with a focused plan at Morrisons (Viking Centre) achieving a 70% reduction in one month. Strong partnership work and targeting repeat offenders are also helping to disrupt wider criminality.
